Inspiration for a Small Winter Wedding in Kannapolis Centered on What Truly Matters
Chapel and Trey’s intimate wedding in Kannapolis, NC felt like story unfolding in front of me. As a NC wedding photographer, I often say that I’m not just documenting a wedding day — I’m telling a story, your story.
Plans changed, timelines moved, but isn’t that how life works. Sometimes love asks us to move before we feel ready and what I was able to witness wasn’t chaos, but the steadiness of commitment and partnership.
Bridal Portraits in Downtown Kannapolis
We began the afternoon with bridal portraits in Downtown Kannapolis, North Carolina. Because of the impending winter weather, Chapel and I were able to have time alone to capture just her and she bravely stepped into the cold with so much grace! She wore her mother’s lace, midi wedding gown and a pair of the iconic blue, satin Manolo Blahnik heels from Sex in the City (iykyk)!
I think there’s something powerful about taking bridal portraits before the day fully unfolds. It creates this beautiful to breathe and take it all in, to feel the weight of what’s about to happen. She carried both warmth and confidence so naturally!

A First Look at the NC Research Campus
From downtown, we made our way over to the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis for their first look. In the spring these walkways are lined with jasmine bushes that I have walked by a hundred times when we used to live in Kannapolis. The lush greenery and intricate architecture have always caught my eye and created the perfect backdrop for such a meaningful moment for them.
A first look on your wedding day is always one of my favorite parts to photograph. You feel a little giddy, as you anticipate the moment, quietly by yourself. The nerves show up first — a little laughter, a little shifting of hands — and then everything kinda settles.
When Trey turned around and saw Chapel for the first time, you could feel both of their nervous energy soften into something steady and grounded.
Afterward, we took a few photos on the steps and inside the Research campus (who knew you could go inside!) capturing more portraits together before heading to the ceremony.
A Meaningful Ceremony at First Reformed Church in Landis
The celebration continued at First Reformed Church in Landis, their home church, where their immediate families were waiting. Their small wedding ceremony in North Carolina was truly heartfelt as the pastor blessed their life ahead.
Surrounded by their closest family, Chapel and Trey stepped into marriage in a space filled with sincerity and steady love. It was simple, quiet, and meaningful.
The perfect intimate wedding in Kannapolis, NC!
It’s celebrations like this that remind me that the meaning behind a wedding doesn’t depend on the scale, but on the depth and intention of the moments within it and the two people uniting together in love. It was truly an honor to document their story.

A Note on My Approach
My approach to wedding photography looks very similar to this process. It’s a little slower paced, intentional crafted, and deeply present in every moment. I believe that the most meaningful (and honestly, beautiful) images come from building trust, allowing for space, and giving us time — then you are supported enough to just be and enjoy each other. I can’t wait to celebrate you soon!!
With love,
Brianna
