Saalik and Jackie decided to have their wedding in Boston, Massachuetts surrounded by their closest family and friends. Their wedding was more than just a ceremony, but a tribute to their families cultures and traditions through their weekend long events!
They started by hosting Haldi ceremony for the Saalik and his groomsmen, which is a traditional Indian ceremony where family and friends smear the couple with a turmeric paste which is meant to provide cleansing to the new couple and their marriage. There was dancing, eating, and lots of throwing color and getting wet! The Haldi was then followed by a Mendhi ritual in which all of the women in the wedding, including family and friends get henna on their hands and bodies. They even let me join in!
The wedding was held at Connemara House Farm in Topsfield, MA. It was a gorgeous venue with an apple orchard, pond, estate home and plenty of grounds to get lost in! They had a beautiful ceremony outside underneath the big oak tree. The reception was held in a tent and of course the night wasn't complete without honoring loved ones, endless dancing and laughter.
